1. Who We Are
Perfumind is an independent, fragrance data & intelligence platform operated by Uzay Sozen. References to "Perfumind", "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to this individual operator. You can reach us via the feedback page or at [email protected].
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including when you create an account, add perfumes to your wardrobe or wishlist, write diary entries, or contact us for support.
- Account data: email address, username, and optional profile details.
- Usage data: perfumes you track, wishlist entries, diary entries, features you use, and pages you visit.
- Device data: IP address, browser type, and operating system, collected automatically by our server infrastructure.
- Billing data: subscription plan and payment status. Card details are never seen or stored by Perfumind. All payments are handled by Polar as Merchant of Record.
- Sign-in provider data: if you choose to sign in with Apple, Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider, solely to create and authenticate your account. We never post to your social accounts or access your contacts.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and improve Perfumind's services.
- Personalise your experience and power AI-driven fragrance recommendations (via OpenAI models through OpenRouter).
- Send transactional emails: account verification, password resets, subscription receipts.
- Respond to feedback and support requests.
- Detect and prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only with the following sub-processors required to operate the service:
- Supabase: database and authentication infrastructure.
- Polar.sh: Merchant of Record for all payment and subscription processing.
- OpenRouter / OpenAI: AI inference for search and recommendations. Queries are not used to train external models.
- PostHog (EU Cloud): privacy-friendly product analytics (feature usage, page views) used to understand how the app is used, hosted in the EU. Only activated if you accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner; see Cookies below.
Public profile information (such as your username and shared wardrobe entries) is visible to other users only if you opt into community features. Aggregated, anonymised statistics may be published; they contain no personal identifiers.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Deleting your account removes your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. billing records are kept for tax compliance).
You can delete your account and all associated personal data at any time:
- In the app, open your account settings and choose to delete (close) your account. This permanently removes your wardrobe, diary, bottle inventory, wishlist, and profile.
- Or email [email protected] from your account's email address (or use the feedback page) with the subject "Delete my account", and we will erase it for you.
- If you signed in with Apple, Google or Facebook, the same options apply. Deleting your account also removes the data we received from that provider.
Once requested, your personal data is permanently erased within 30 days, except records we are legally required to keep (e.g. billing records for tax compliance). If you need help, contact us.
6. Security
Perfumind is self-hosted on a dedicated VPS with TLS encryption and Cloudflare tunnel for all data in transit. Database storage at rest via Supabase. No system is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute protection but apply industry-standard measures throughout.
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and remember your locale preference. We never use advertising cookies. If you accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner, we use PostHog (EU-hosted) to understand feature usage and improve the product. This data is tied to a pseudonymous ID, not sold, and never used for advertising. You can decline or change your choice at any time from the cookie banner.
8. Your Rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
Perfumind is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use of Perfumind after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
